FORCE USE
Force powers are used by declaring the power to be used, the manner of its use, and the Force Points being expended. A Force Power check is made to determine whether or not it is successful. A Force Power check compares a D100 roll to the sum of the character's Force Power attribute and any Force Power Bonus points. If the Force Power check fails, the attempt fails and the Force Points are still expended.
Some powers are considered channeled powers. These powers have a casting cost and a channeling cost. While being channeled, the user's Force Points pool is reduced by the channeling cost. When the channeling ends, the channeling cost is restored and the casting cost is deducted as per usual Force usage.
For example, a shielding power might have a Channeling Cost of 7, and a Casting Cost of 2. A character with 20 Force Points uses the shielding power. Their Force Points pool is reduced to 13, which can be used to cast other powers. Let's say they use 4 additional points on other powers to bring their total down to (13 - 4) = 9 points. When the Channeling of the shield ends, the Channeling Cost is restored, yielding (9 + 7) = 16 Force Points. The casting cost of the shield is immediately deducted leaving (16 - 2) = 14 points.
REGAINING FORCE POINTS
Force points recharge at an hourly rate defined below:
LEARNING FORCE DISCIPLINES
Force disciplines can be learned by training from other individuals or holocrons. Three successful Force Power checks must be passed using this discipline to effectively learn the skill. Only one success per RP session is allowed. During a training session, three attempts may be made to claim a success. In a non-training session, one attempt may be made to claim a success. Regardless of whether in training or not, the Force Point cost of the attempt is double the casting cost normally associated with the power.
Once a discipline has been learned, the character has access to all power varients of that discipline at all tiers, with the exception of potential Dark Side/Light Side restrictions.
DEFENSES AGAINST FORCE POWERS
Direct energy damage (Force Lightning, Pyrokinesis, Ray of Darkness) - Dodge, Lightsaber Parry Note: Lightsaber Parry is not effective against area of effect applications of these powers.
Mind influencing (Mind Trick, Mind Reading, Mind Domination) - Mental Discipline
Sensory deception (Force Cloak) - Perception
Or as otherwise noted in the Force power description.
